A nice "Best of" collection of recordings by Reggae's first international superstar.

All of Desmond's late 1960s and early 1970s UK chart hits are on here, "007"(#14 in 1967) , "Israelites" (#1 in 1969), "It Mek" (#7 in 1969), "Pickney Gal" (#42 in 1970) and "You Can Get It If You Really Want" (#2 in 1970).

Of the tracks on here "Israelites" (which also made it to #9 on Billboard's US Hot 100 in 1969, and had a 1975 UK chart run when it reached #10) is easily the best known, but similar in style is the often overlooked "It Mek". "Israelites" caused much bewilderment back in 1969 due to the impenetrability of its lyrics and the words of "It Mek" are similarly obscure.

Outside of the obvious UK hits particular standouts for me on here are the perky "Intensified" (a huge hit in Jamaica) and the atmospheric "Fu Man Chu".
