Reissue, Repress.
25th Anniversary Edition.
Issued in a jewelcase, housed in cardboard slipcase, including 28-page booklet.
Recorded from January to June 1971 at De Lane Lea Studios, Olympic Studios and Abbey Road Studios, London, UK.
In booklet:
and as the final notes of No One Came fade from the speakers... a special thanks to Roger Glover for his invaluable input into this project, and to Tom Bender for the engineering work on the new tracks and mixes (Tom also helped immensely on the In Rock anniversary edition but got missed on the credits).
Thanks to Tim Chacksfield at EMI Records for his patience on this (and all the previous Deep Purple EMI projects). The original album remastering was done with his customary care by Peter Mew at Abbey Road Studios.
Studio photographs by Michael Putland at Retna. Centre colour photograph by Barry Plummer. Cuttings, memorabilia, slipcase cover image, and record sleeves courtesy of the Deep Purple Appreciation Society archives.
Sleeve notes and research by Simon Robinson. Roger Glover's notes were originally longer but I pinched bits to use in the main piece. Reference works by DPAS members Mike Richards and Roy Davies were also a help. No diaries survive so much of the recording session data has had to be deduced from information on tape boxes and remains speculative in places.
Finally a big thanks to all members of the DPAS for their support and encouragement. I expect the letters asking for a "Machine Head" anniversary edition will start hitting the letter box any day...
This particular CD (and In Rock) are available to order on double vinyl special editions.
