Great sound on this CD! Can you tell me about "A Little Bit Of Heaven"? Meaning, when was it first true stereo? I have it stereo on a Canadian CD Polytel "The Best Of Ronnie Dove" (1991). The BSN website https://www.bsnpubs.com/nyc/diamond/diamond.html, does not indicate stereo or mono for the parent LP "One Kiss for Old Times' Sake", however it does indicate "e" on LP "The Best of Ronnie Dove". Wondering if you guys know...thanks.
Hi, George. I'm sorry you felt When Liking Turns To Loving did not sound good. We used a stereo master tape source for that one. The stereo mix we used sounded fine to myself, my co-producer, and our mastering engineer.
I came across this at 7digital downloads in Canada. Hearing the mere mp3 samples I thought this was the best sounding digital transfer I've heard online. Two songs were lesser quality including When Liking Turns To Loving.
The 16-bit flac songs were $1.89 each so I only bought two and recorded my balance from my own hits LP. There is a flac and mp3 option, no m4a which I would prefer over mp3. The pricing is premium.
About his hits, Hello Pretty Girl is a great favorite. I thought Say You and Kiss Away were enchanting reminders of 1961. Seems that by 1964 and 65 with a new punk era starting they did not chart as high as his others. His strength was in redoing old style pop with strong new arrangements, like Dean Martin and Bobby Vinton.
It was a fun project to work on and I am very happy to have been given the chance to be a part of it. Much of the memorabilia used in the booklet is now sitting about 20 feet away from me. I sent enough memorabilia to the art director of the project that he said there was enough for 3 cds worth. We never got a chance to do a follow up CD, and I didn't really expect to, but it would've been nice. A few of the tracks were vinyl sourced, where tapes were not known to exist. Since the release of this project, I uncovered tape sources for a few of those songs. It would be wonderful if it would sell enough copies to warrant a remaster.
With a nod to stereotom for adding this item in 2004, and for being a co-producer of the project. I just received this CD, and found that no images have been been added.
Contains 21 hits- 16 in stereo, many for the first time from newly-available tape sources. Compilation produced by Marty Wekser and Tom Diehl.
