For any major Petula Clark fan and collector like myself to get tracks unheard since they were broadcast for well over 60 years is a real treat especially as I had not heard them before ..the link with Petula to “My Favourite Things “ is that she starred as Maria in a highly successful version of The Sound of music in London’s West End for 18 months in 1981 ,but this version was from the 1950’s .

"My Favourite Things" has long been considered a Christmas song and has appeared on Christmas albums by Jack Jones, Johnny Mathis, Kenny Rogers, Carpenters, Lorrie Morgan, the Whispers, Luther Vandross, Perry Como, Barry Manilow, Anita Baker, Dionne Warwick, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Kenny G, Rod Stewart, Carole King, Chicago, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand and now Petula Clark.

"Some Enchanted Evening" isn't a Christmas song, and it has never been considered as such, however it is a previously unreleased "bonus track" and is featured on the release as such. Making it a "bonus" sets aside the recording from the set of Christmas songs - if it wasn't included on this release, there would be no platform for this recording to be issued or heard - it also works as it serves as the perfect companion song to "My Favourite Things" also written by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

I wonder why they added Some Enchanted Evening (Previously Unreleased), a song from the musical South Pacific, and My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music, onto a Christmas CD?
