| | While both of the Beatles' Stargrove CDs seem to have disappeared from the shelves at Walmart (I haven't seen any in our local store in weeks), they have apparently shown up in limited supply at Future Shop and Best Buy, although I've not seen them -- they seem to be on-line only

| | I have the Australian pop series and two volumes of feeling groovy plus two volumes of lost in the seventies and they're 100 percent original |

| | I may well put a CD together of The Beatles, but I won't put it out for public sale. Some of the commercially-made CDs I've seen of late, I read the back panel of some various artist issues and see words to the effect that some tracks are re-recorded.... that's what ended it for me, I don't buy commercial CDs at all any more! Simply put, I can't trust them to issue authentic versions. I do my own CDs for myself and a few friends.... and they are STRICTLY NOT FOR SALE! |

| | Those tracks look like they been put through a mixer. Can you imagine what the beach boys albums called outside of America if they appeared on the label called stateside that would be very interesting |

| | I'll bet Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey) would be aware of these and they'd be fuming! Absolutely livid! Shame on Canada for lifting the copyright protections from these tracks. |

| | The problem seems to be that they are manufactured in the USA where they are NOT PD --- and -- this is a big one -- did they source the tracks from the official (possibly first generation) Parlophone / EMI CDs, effectively copying those tracks.
Sound quality seems a bit weird -- a bit harsh and 'toppy'. |

| | Streuth! That means any bootlegger can use a Canadian address as their official HQ, and start pumping out illicit albums. Give it five years, and every Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Dylan etc album will be freely available to them. Not sure whether I'm delighted or depressed at the thought! |

| | It would appear so -- there is a discussion here (click me)
Seems to also be a Bob Dylan CD too! |

| | In that case, aren't these are bootlegs rather than public domain albums? Are you saying that in Canada, labels can help themselves to the Beatles' official recordings, once they pass 50 years? |
|
|
|
Jock_Girl 7th Feb 2015
| | No -- these are the exact same tracks as issued on the official Parlophone/ EMI CDs.
I have heard that here is also a Beach Boys CD from the same company |

| | So these are all alternative versions - live performance, BBC recordings, unused takes etc? |

| | The second in the series of what is possibly the first North American issue of 'public domain' Beatles tracks. This disk, while manufactured in the USA, is on sale at Walmart in Canada for $5. Supposedly, the tracks while not PD in the USA -- are PD in Canada! |
