This is a collection of remakes of Motown songs done by Jamaican Artists in Reggae style during the late '60s/early '70s, complete with an essay by Lois Wilson which chronicles the impact that Motown had in Jamaica at the time.
Musically I generally prefer the original Motown versions of these songs, but it is interesting to hear how the songs adapt so easily to Reggae rhythms and some of the songs which were originally down-tempo ballads are particularly impressive.
Interestingly the order of the tracks throughout the three discs doesn't reflect the timeline of when they were recorded but when the original Motown versions were first released.
