Is the XL label a UK independent like Domino or Creation? Or is it an international independent label that contradicts the definitions we use on the site of both international releases and independent labels. Martin Mills owns or controls a cartel of UK independent labels that include Mute, Rough Trade, 4AD, the Beggars Group and others. These are all released internationally but essentially UK independent labels. It's a conundrum isn't it? Send your answers on the back of a postage stamp to the dead letter office.
...and here's another one. I suppose if this and this White Stripes CD are the same then they will need to be brought in line with this Simply Red CD. Or are we going to keep both methods of entry just to confuse everyone?
Added CD Australian Issue, Booklet Info, Poster and Australian Inlay scans. We're not going to have a debate that XL is a UK independent label are we? How much nostalgic vinyl thinking can we take? Anyway Radiohead's International releases (including vinyl) on XL would put that theory to the test would it not?
This one is international and the cat# should be XLCD187 (see spine) with no space and not XLCD 187 as it is listed here. I'll upload the Australian Inlay manufactured and distributed by Shock records as proof because it has the same XL label, barcode and cat#. The CD is slightly different so I'll do a shot of that too and perhaps do the poster as well. Looks like Shock had the rights to the entire XL catalogue to me so they'll all eventually go to international as secondary distributors/manufacturers don't count or do they?
