Melts - Maelstrom (2022)
Review
Good Stuff!
The first album from Dublin 5 piece "Melts" has a wall of guitars/keyboards/echo vocals/rhythm, think Joy Division/early New Order with a hint of Echo & The Bunnymen, although comparison is unfair as the have thier own sound.
The second album "Field Theory" due 12.04.24 is available for pre-order here.

Nils Frahm - All Melody (2018)
Review
Only just discovered Nils Frahm recently via YouTube, after seeing his "All Melody" video which persuaded me to order this album.
A combination of voice, conventional instrumentation and electronics produce an ambient work that also knows when to use silence to good effect.
With hypnotic melodies and a sense of space, lending to an ethereal quality. Add to this the fact that it was recorded in an historic studio in Berlin (Durton Studio now Saal 3), which Nils himself spent two years refurbishing and so, used top recording equipment to give a fine sound quality, and you have a very relaxing album, great on phones, 8.5/10

Halestorm - Into The Wild Life (2015)
Review
First time i've come across Halestorm via this album, and was pleasantly surprised.
Lizzy Hale has a great, powerful voice, and that's backed by some good musicianship.
There's driving rock anthems, interspersed with some half decent ballads.
Will be investigating their "The Strange Case Of" album, which is also meant to be good
8/10

Aldo Nova - Subject.....Aldo Nova
Review
First time i've come across this artist, have to say it's not bad at all (forgiving the slightly shallow/throw-away lyrics perhaps, but then,a lot of early eighties stuff suffered similarly;)
Aldo Nova (real name Aldo Caporuscio) is a Canadian Guitarist/Vocalist/Producer.
Melodic power rock/pop ballads, with occasional electronics/keyborads here and there, think somewhere between Bon Jovi and Steve Vai (Aldo is a talented guitarist),i'm somewhat surprised he wasn't bigger this side of the pond (UK),or perhaps he was,and i just missed it;)
I'll look out for his other releases.
8/10

Richard Hawley - Lowedges (2003)
Review
First time i've come across one of Richards albums, and a good one it is too,OK,it doesn't break any new ground, but it's good, melodic songwriting,a distinctive voice, accompanied by some lush guitar from Richard (formerly in The Longpigs),8/10.

Roger Waters - Is This The Life We Really Want? (2017)
Review
Whilst some of Roger's stuff has been slightly "off the wall" ;),this, more grounded offering perhaps, has shades of Animals,D.S.O.T.M. (and yes...,The Wall ;)(inevitably i suppose),so familiar territory, that should keep Water's fans happy.Honest lyrical content, with a message.
8/10.

Wolf Eyes - Human Animal (2006)
Review
US (Detroit) Noise/Experimental/Industrial/Electronic (or "Weird S#*t" to some maybe;).A challenging listen, but then, not all listening should be "easy".Disturbing soundscapes that would sit well in an equally disturbing horror movie, music to "self-harm" to perhaps;)

Sheila Chandra - Moonsung : A Real World Retrospective (1999)
Review
Sheila Chandra "Monsoon" Vocalist here with a slower (original?raga?) version of "Ever So Lonely" and other lush "Exotic/Ethereal" offerings, great voice,if you like Lisa Gerrard you'll probably like this. 8-9/10.
