LaurenceD SUBS 1st Jan 2024		CD Album Professor Longhair - Rock 'N' Roll Gumbo (1985)	Reissue of Blue Star XBLY 80 606 plus 2 unreleased tracks from the same sessions (8,13). The LP (DC-3006) was definitely released in 1985, but I'm not so sure about this CD, might've been later.

The insert and inlay list only 11 tracks, omitting "The Stumble", which is what was on the LP and cassette versions.

I have also included composer names, some definite, some speculative (?).
LaurenceD SUBS 13th Sep 2023		CD Album Benny Goodman - Music Hall Rag	I found five of these CDs in a thrift store, possibly from the set of ten mentioned in the notes. Each CD has its own barcode, so I am entering them individually. The "box set" was enclosed in a thin (kinda cheap-looking) case. As to that "state of the art digital mastering", I don't know where they obtained these recordings, but they are so heavily filtered that it sounds like you're listening to them on a portable radio. BTW the same Benny Goodman bio (in English and German) is repeated on each individual CD.

Unfortunately the NoNoise filter has been applied so severely that certain passages are inaudible. Especially affected are the acoustic set and comments between songs.

It's a quite entertaining collection. And given the time limitations, that means no long intros or meandering guitar solos or fade-out endings. You gotta get straight to the point and boom! - outta here
LaurenceD SUBS 3rd Nov 2022		CD Album Frank Sinatra with the Red Norvo Quintet - Live In Australia, 1959 (1997)	These recordings were obtained from tapes possessed by Bobby Sherrick. Selections from those tapes appeared on an unauthorized Bravura CD in 1990. See here for lots more info: steve hoffman forum BTW, according to one poster in the above thread, there was no April 1 concert as stated in the notes of this release. Instead, both shows took place on March 31. In any event, while the sound quality on this release is not optimal (a bit fuzzy), the performance is outstanding and well worth checking out.

Tracks 24-27 are by Tom Layton and Jerry Darcey; see here and here for details. Also, it is generally agreed that track 9 is by a different duo, see here and here.

LaurenceD SUBS 21st Oct 2022		CD Album Sham 69 - Rare And Unreleased (1991)	The tracks on this cd that I found interesting were the early versions of songs with Dave on vocals, which were eventually released with modified lyrics, new titles and Jimmy on vocals. For example, "TV Times" evolved into "Lost On Highway 46".
