mister_tmg 4th Apr 2023		CD Album Various Artists - Britain's First Number Ones 1945 (2009)	Not sure why they included the Jean Sablon version of Tell Me, Marianne - it doesn't appear to have been released in the UK at the time the song was in the charts. It's a Victor master (D7-VB-2755), recorded in December 1947 in New York, issued on RCA Victor (20-3111-A) in 1948. That said, the other volume in this CD series uses a Les Brown/Doris Day recording which wouldn't have been issued in the UK either. Perhaps it was too hard for the compilers to track down another version of Tell Me, Marianne. The inclusion of Sammy Kaye's version of An Apple Blossom Wedding on this compilation is another anomaly - that version wasn't available in the UK either.

mister_tmg 11th Mar 2018		CD Album Emile Ford - The Pye / Piccadilly Anthology (2000)	2-29: "Dreamboat" brings to mind the Alma Cogan hit. But listening to it now, it's obviously "When My Dreamboat Comes Home", first published in 1936 but revived in 1956 by Fats Domino. As Emile Ford covers Fats' hit "Be My Guest" here, he (or the Pye producers) may have had that in mind. I'd guess it was intended for an album or EP, as releasing it on a single just a few years after Fats would have been unlikely, I think.

I bought it “new” from Amazon recently and the tray was yellow! Is this a strange replacement, I wonder?

The latter sounds like a poor 78 transfer on the track in question, this CD sounds like it uses the original master tape. Odd.

The English version was released in the UK but the French version never made it out. This one hasn't been on a Petula Clark CD.
