nboldock 6th Apr 2014		CD Album Various Artists - Blue Bell Folk (2014)	Review This is a bit special. "Blue Bell Folk" was a private pressed 1969 LP consisting of performances recorded live at the legendary Folk Union One folk club (founded by The Watersons), upstairs at the Blue Bell pub in Hull. By all accounts no more than 200 copies were pressed and it is now seriously rare. There's a copy of the original LP listed on Popsike having sold for a cool £100. This CD reissues the original LP (for the very first time), 45 years after its release - adding an extra bonus track (19) that didn't make it to the LP - and recreates the original sleeve notes in the CD booklet. The CD was launched yesterday at an event hosted by the Hull Folk Archive - which is itself overseen by Steve Gardham, producer of the original LP. Pure gold. Incidentally the Blue Bell pub is still alive and well - and largely unchanged, though the upstairs room has been a pool room now for many years; the stage is long gone - and well worth a visit if in the area. It's also a Sam Smith's pub so the bar prices are ridiculously cheap... which is always good :-) [Remaining scans to follow] ✔︎ Helpful Review?
