spreadjoy 18th Dec 2017		CD Album Pete Fountain - Pete Fountain At Piper's Opera House (1994)	Even though this CD was recorded in 1983 released in the 90's. Artists on the CD apart from Pete are: John Thomas - Cornet, Eddie Miller - Tenor Saxophone, Bob Haven - Trombone, Bunky Jones - SBS, Nick Fatool - Drums, the legendary Nick Fatool was a very early drummer with Pete Fountain, or I should say Pete played with Nick back in the 1950.
spreadjoy 15th Nov 2016		CD Album Pete Fountain - Live Performance In New Orleans (1987)	Review The Artist on this CD is noted as Pete Fountain And Other All-Star Dixielanders, points to a generic term for various groups & band members not individually annoted (whilst Pete was the Front Man). Album was originally released on RCA Camden LP in 1962 CAL-727 (Mono), it was released again in 1964 only difference was the number CAL-727 (E) then in 1972 was re-issued on an interesting label Pickwick Camden CAS-727, this time in re-channeled Stereo, the original number was CAL-727 then CAS-727, Pickwick used the RCA Camden release number. The songs in one form or another appear on many of Pete's recordings both Coral/Decca and Independents. It is a collection of Dixieland Standards. spreadjoy 2nd Nov 2016		CD Album Pete Fountain - Dixieland Classics (1999)	Review Funny name for this CD. It was originally released as a 2CD set (unsighted). Dixieland Classics, well, OK if you insist. I know I harp on this fact but it is a wonderful sampler for anyone who does not know Pete. Whilst true Dixieland appears on this album in it's true form, Muskrat Ramble, Basin Street Blues & Honky Tonk, The other tracks are done with a Pete Fountain twist. Amazing Grace, Gospel - San Antonio Rose, Walking The Floor Over You, Country - It Had To Be You, You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby, 40's Pop. Put the CD on random, it becomes a lucky dip of beautiful music. spreadjoy 1st Nov 2016		CD Album Pete Fountain - The Best Of Dixieland (2001)	Review This CD is without doubt a Pete Fountain CD. Pete Fountain plays Clarinet on ALL tracks. It is an important CD because it displays some very early work by Pete. One of the collaborators on this CD is Benny Harrel, Petes' Son-in-law & Manager for decades. Track 1. Was recorded in 1950 and released on a Clef 78 (untraced) Track 2 & 3. Was recorded in 1951 and released on the Mercury Album "Strictly Dixie" MC 20151 (12 track LP), there was a later Mercury Album by the Basin Street Six featuring Pete Fountain "Basin Street Six" MG 25111, 8 track 10" Tracks 4-7 From Coral Album CRL 757401 "Music From Dixie" (1961) see this site LPs Tracks 8-19 From Coral Album CRL 757440 "South Rampart Street Parade" (1963) see this site Track 20 From Coral Album CRL 757503 "Walking Through New Orleans" see this site Noted on paperwork that most tracks remastered from record, noise persists. Well mastered. It is sad that the original tapes of his Coral product do not exist. A fine album as a sampler of Petes' fine dixieland work. Check his LPs on this site for a comprehensive list. spreadjoy 27th Oct 2016		CD Album Pete Fountain - Swing Low, Sweet Clarinet (2013)	Review This 2CD set is from Jasmine Records UK. The only complaint I have about this set is that it is MONO. This was rather upsetting when the CD arrived as all tracks were originally recorded in Stereo. CD Cover is a photoshopped "Pete Fountain's New Orleans" Coral CRL 757282 (1959), The back of the CD is a photoshopped "Swing Low, Sweet Clarinet" Coral CRL 757394 (1962). The CDs themselves feature 4 of Pete's Albums and 1 part album. CD 1 Tracks: 1 - 12 "The Blues" Coral CRL 757285 (1959) 3rd Coral Album CD 1 Tracks: 13 - 16 "Presenting Pete Fountain & Al Hirt - Bourbon Street" Coral CRL 757389 (1962) 12th Coral Album, this is an 8 track Album, 4 Tracks By Pete (on this CD) 4 tracks of Pete & Al (not on this CD) CD 1 Tracks: 17 - 24 "Salutes The Great Clarinetists" Coral CRL 757333 (1960) 6th Coral Album CD 2 Tracks: 1 - 4 "Salutes The Great Clarinetists" Coral CRL 757333 (1960) 6th Coral Album CD 2 Tracks: 5 - 16 "I Love Paris" Coral CRL 757378 (1962) 11th Coral Album CD 2 Tracks: 17 - 28 "Swing Low, Sweet Clarinet" Coral CRL 757394 (1962) 13th Coral Album (Swing Low, Sweet Clarinet features the Jubilee Singers (most likely the famous Fisk Jubilee Singers), but not shown as such. The 2CDs are of remarkable quality, they have been remastered to the level expected by Sony or BMG, wonderful job. spreadjoy 2nd Feb 2016		CD Album Pete Fountain - Live In Santa Monica (1998)	Recorded live at the Santa Monicas Civic Auditorium on March 16, 1961. The musicians played with Pete Fountain for years. Each has a chance to showcase his talent on this CD. I've heard most of Pete's work, this is a killer, it is true Dixieland.
spreadjoy 14th Jan 2016		CD Album Pete Fountain - Country (1994)	Just arrived, what a spectacular CD. "Country" using the ultra Melancholy instrument "The Clarinet". Also featured on this CD are outstanding session personel. with vocal backups in the same style as the Jordonaires, Anita Kerr Singers, knowing Owen Bradley who knows, he and Pete have always surrounded themselves with great musicians. It is a true country CD, with all the tid bits, as usual Pete is a killer. The last track "Sunday In The Country" is a very special track, it features Pete Fountain on vocals & a wee bit of Clarinet. He sings with strains of Jerry Lewis (not 'the killer' Lewis) at times. Seek it out have a listen.
spreadjoy 15th Sep 2014		CD Album Dave "Baby" Cortez - Happy Organs, Wild Guitars And Piano Shuffles (1993)	This CD has it all, Organs, Pianos, Driving Saxes, Vocals, but how would you describe it...... Dave Clowney recorded for many labels, might be an idea to check out his 45 cat 45's. I had about 5 of his albums at one stage, so I'm a nut, I can wear that, just love his stuff. The Happy Organ is my iphone call tune...I said I was a nut. Dave 'Baby" Cortez on 45cat.com
spreadjoy 15th Sep 2014		CD Album Curtis Lee - Pretty Little Angel Eyes (1996)	If you want to give yourself a complete mind spin out, get this CD. Whilst all tracks are Curtis Lee with help from The Halos and are from his DUNES output. Much of the material on this CD is "Sounds Like", ummm sounds like, Freddy Cannon, ummm sounds like Dion and many many more. This might just send you insane, it did me. A Great Great CD

spreadjoy 7th Sep 2014		CD Album Barry Mann - Who Put The Bomp (1995)	A CD that could never be released 'legally', just too many label envolved: JDS (1959), ABC Paramount, Colpix, Red Bird, Capitol, Scepter. Many others not represented on this CD. A wonderful, wonderful collection. Personal Point: When, Who Put The Bomp was released in Australia on AMPAR, I just wore the record out. Not until the 1990s I heard the US Version, I thought it was a re-record, but no. When originally released in Australia it had the intro deleted. Still remains one of my alltime faves.
spreadjoy 7th Sep 2014		CD Album Eddie Hodges - I'm Gonna Knock On Your Door	This is without a doubt a BOOTLEG, I have not shown it as such. I doubt this CD could ever be issued legally, it contain product from so many labels: Decca, Cadence, Columbia, MGM, Aurora, a California label (Sunburst) is not represented.
