Added a clearer scan of the CD and missing postcard images, and full scan of an unsigned inner.
I think the signature looks like "Lioniel". An odd spelling I know, but it's just a guess anyway!
They have Evolved a few times. Members Neil Rushton, Billy April (Real Name Billy Freeman) Vince Garcia, 1991 Original singer was Sophie Jones. As a White Label. When Island/4th & Broadway signed them. She was Replaced once with Dee Heron and then with Kimberley Peer who was on the re-release of "Real Love" in 1995. Hope this Helps. H.
Have uploaded the scan of the inside cover which may be signed (?)
...anyone got any thoughts on it?
I did see something on the telly a few years back about celebs "numbering" their signatures, as some kind of authentication method, and this appears to have"32" under it... but dating it is a new one on me.
...And can't for the life of me figure out the name. looks like: F(S-?)u_ _ni (a) er
(?)
(If it's just a happy birthday gift inscription, then just delete the image)
I can't think what it was that first attracted me to this CD single when I found it the other day....
... Actually, it was a combination of factors: It's a digipak (Why I first pick anything off the shelf to look at, as it could be an SACD, promo, a limited ed, or the like), seeing the label as Fourth and Broadway, which I know Tricky has been associated with, so maybe it's that kind of thing - worth a punt thinks I -
and also because there appears to be a dated signature on the inside front cover (someone has yet to demystify the whole signature thing for me) can't decode the name that's signed there either yet.
But having got it home and listened to it, I have to say it's not my thing at all really, sounding like the pretty standard dance music of the time.
But what has caused me to scratch my head is that apparently the original release of this from 1991 (?) is regarded as a classic among dancey types, and I've even seen more than a couple of references to this online as "Modern Nothern Soul"... I am struggling with the concept of what normal northern soul is to be honest, but with this, I can hear not a jot of anything to suggest that scene.
Maybe this version has been remixed out of it's original shape, so as to bear no resemblance to the first issue (?)
