Notes

4-track promo CD in a card sleeve to promote the musical stage production Let It Be in London's West End from September 2012 featuring members of the cast. The CD came in a carrier bag with other promotional items.

Taken from the programme for the show:

RAIN PRODUCTIONS
[CO-]PRODUCER
The story of RAIN begins in the 1970s, in the middle of the 'disco era' five years after The Beatles broke up, and when there was no such thing as a 'tribute band'. RAIN, formerly Reign, a Los Angeles band, formed with the intention of recording their own songs. Along the way, they decided to put together a few sets of Beatles music, not with the intention of achieving any sort of commercial success, but strictly out of love for the music.

The idea was to perform the music of The Beatles from their earliest hits through the complicated arrangements of many of their later albums, note for note. The ultimate goal was to eventually talk some club owner into allowing RAIN to play on a 'slow' night, for no guaranteed payment except for a percentage of the door in the unlikely event that people actually would show up and pay money to see them.

To their surprise people did show up. Enough to warrant a return date, and to point them in the direction that led them to perform on numerous movie soundtracks, star in their own Broadway show, and to become the No 1 Beatles show in the world.

RAIN is very proud and honoured to be a part of the creative team that is bringing the show Let It Be to London's West End. To see the show on the very stage that The Beatles performed in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother for The Royal Variety Performance is truly a dream come true.

With acknowledgement to Delfont Mackintosh Theatres, the Prince Of Wales Theatre and RAIN.

The show has since moved from the Prince Of Wales Theatre to The Savoy Theatre (as of July 2013).

Scans uploaded of a post card seeking the public to vote for the show in two categories for which it had been nominated at the WhatsOnStage.com Awards 2013. In the event the show did not win an award in either category.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the PR company regarding the recordings on the CD, and have hastened them today for a reply.

This link from the RAIN website shows, in the bottom left-hand corner, a photo of RAIN that is identical (apart from the backing) to the photo on the sleeve and CD, which leads me back to thinking that this recording actually is RAIN!

I originally thought it was RAIN, the Beatles Tribute group, as their name is on the sleeve and disc, but further research suggests this recording features members of the West End theatre production.

Indeed, looking through the programme from when I saw the show recently, it states "created and conceived by RAIN".

There's more about RAIN as joint producers of the show in the programme that I'll add under Notes in due course. I'll change the artist to read "The Let It Be (London) Company" as there are 10 members of the company playing The Beatles and we don't know which ones are featured on this promo CD.

Isn't "Rain" the label/production company? Is it actually the artist or should this be "[no artist listed]"?
