Magic Marmalade 15th Jan 2022		CD Single Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever (Radio Edit) (1996)	Review Welcome to my happy place! Some songs attach themselves to you like barnacles on a whale's ass for happy reasons, and others sad... But this one stood for me as a little refuge in my mind when at a low ebb all those years back when it was released, so while of a not so great time, it reminds me of a little glimmer of sunshine cheese in an otherwise dark universe. When I used to switch on VH1 at 4 in the morning before lurching off to my cruddy, soul destroying job, I used to hang a round for an extra few minutes before leaving, so I could see this video, for a little pick me up (Or maybe I used this as an excuse to leave for work later!). And the thing is, because it hadn't clung to any particular person, or event in my life, I'd totally forgotten about it, until, a couple of months ago, it was used in a Booking.com advert on the TV: "No way! - I rmember that!....erm... what's it called?" So one of those songs that climbed out of nowhere , and for no particular reason, from the dark, forgotten recesses of the mind of a sudden, and kicks you in the balls: "Surprise!". Having hunted it down again though, all these years later, I'm not ashamed to say I've been watching the video (ahem) "Occasionally", as soft a spongy place to park my brain before the horrors of the modern world invade my brain space again, and resume their assault on my already dubious sanity. (Ah, Donna, won't you come and take me away from all this, to live with you in that honey coloured rotating box of happy, with you're oddly structured song, forever more?!!!) Magic Marmalade 19th Dec 2021		CD Single Green Day - Warning (2000)	I'm leaving the disc images for these promos as lead images, as the "cover" images are described as "Back (cover)" images, and I think this is common in promos, to simply have a backing card in a plastic wallet, with the disc itself presented as the lead focus of the package, and supplying the place of a front cover.

Magic Marmalade 26th Oct 2021		CD Single Gary Allan - Right Where I Need To Be (2000)	I've amended the song title, and adjusted notes referring to the album. ...A bit puzzled as to the nature of this though, and what to do with it: Why is the same song repeated 10 times on this? ...And since the individual track listing doesn't state the song ten times in row, is it worth reducing the track listing for the entry to one track, and letting the notes inform us as to this zany idea, or should I just replicate the same track in the entry so it has 10 tracks?

Magic Marmalade 16th Oct 2021		CD Single Supergrass - Lenny (1995)	Yes, it is not always us recording these items that get it wrong.... it's the issuing record company / label making a pig's dinner of their own items. So helpful rule of thumb for us, is always to work from the inside out when entering items. ... Go by the disc first, as your second example shows, a uniquely Australian disc can end up in "European" packaging, so going form the outside in, it would have been entered as European. But they should be entered as well as you know how, everything else can be knocked into shape after.

Magic Marmalade 7th Oct 2021		CD Single Supergrass - Lenny (1995)	I have moved the disc image over, but I also see the same contributor (Bombsiteboy) added some sleeve images too (presumably from his same copy)... ...So the Australian disc and the UK one were both available in the same sleeve / packaging? If so, it might be an idea for me to simply copy these images and put them over there, but I want to be sure it wasn't simply a case of bb having the wrong disc in his case (That there is another actual Australian sleeve to go with the disc.

Magic Marmalade 13th Sep 2021		CD Single 18 Wheeler - The Hours And The Times (1996)	Found this at a boot fair yesterday (for 10p! :)... ... Since mine is the same as listed here, it seems this is for Creation issued this single as a promo... With a bespoke promo CD in a commercial (barcoded) j card case. (Mine does have a small round, white promo sticker on the front of the case) Makes me wonder, therefore, and pose the question:. Is this how Creation issued all CD single promos... With promo discs in commercial packaging? ... I ask because it makes me wonder if there might be plenty of promos out there for this label hiding in commercial packaging... And would therefore include promo items for bands like Oasis and Primal Scream. If they are - and are as yet, largely unidentified as promos - this could give the impression of Creation promos being rarer than they actually are... People could have them in their collections, and not even know it!

I see both of these new entries (along with: "Don't Shut Me Down") are single track discs, without barcodes, although it does not state if they are promo items or not... ...Is this how they are generally to be available to the public, or are they promos?
Magic Marmalade 2nd Sep 2021		CD Single Yello - The Race (1988)	Thanks H :) We all have our favourite charity shops... And those we avoid, each for different reasons once you get to know them... ... Strange how some are better than others for different things! Oxfam is actually quite good for CDs and CD singles I find, albeit the upper end of what if like to pay... Give be an old fashioned junk style shop over those trying to present themselves as retail chain shops any day! .... Piles of nonsense all over the place, in no particular order, makes you feel there might be treasures to dig for :) I absolutely hate the recent trend for face-on CD racks... Much prefer either a spine-on bookshelf style arrangement, or just a box or three to dive head first into. This came from an independent, local charity shop, and just such a box tucked under a table with sewing material draped over it.... Tons of newspaper DVDs and CDs, in which I found thisa Leonard Cohen CD single, two Jamiroquai promos, and a clutch if three inch gatefold CDs... Bonanza! All eighty pence each :)
Magic Marmalade 1st Sep 2021		CD Single Yello - The Race (1988)	The disc is supposed to look that colour, even though it's a PDO made one... ...underside is silver as usual. >Interesting thought regarding card sleeve singles (And card sleeve promos) - I frequently check laboriously through those boxes of newspaper giveaway discs, that seem to be almost everywhere, and nobody wants... ... And that is where these commercial release card sleeve singles and promos are often to be found... as charity shops tend not to know the difference (understandable), but I know they also often come to the point of throwing them away in the rubbish... ...So it makes wonder if card sleeve CD singles and the like may be becoming increasingly rare, by virtue of being confused with those, and disposed of in like manner. So card sleeve-rs may be being lost at a rate disproportionate to normal case issues, which simply get put on the shelves with standard CDs (not thrown out) ... So perhaps a little plea to charity shops to check through card sleeve discs before throwing them away.. there may be treasures in there us sad crate and box diggers want. Thanks :)

The release details (cat number system etc.) would, of course, define it as European, but isn't Comic Relief a uniquely British charity? ...And with all proceeds going to that charity, seems unlikely that this would be released outside UK? (Maybe I'm wrong). I seek enlightenment on the issue :)
