Magic Marmalade 24th Mar 2024 | | CD SingleNeil Diamond - Morning Has Broken (1992) | Was this available separately from any other disc?
- If not, and was part of an album package, and only available that way, then it would be better added to appropriate album entry, I think.
|
Magic Marmalade 5th Jan 2024 | | CD SingleThe Prodigy - No Good (Start The Dance) (1996) | For clarity, did this disc come in this package / artwork?
|
Magic Marmalade 23rd Sep 2023 | | CD SingleThe Rolling Stones Featuring Jimmy Page - Scarlet (2020) | We don't have bootleg CDR as format option, it's either / or.
For this reason, I think leaving as bootleg as the format is the the preferred primary solution.

Magic Marmalade 19th Aug 2023 | | CD SingleAudioslave - Be Yourself (2005) | Looks like a promo?
|
Magic Marmalade 4th Jul 2023 | | CD SingleLittle Barrie - I.5.C.A. (2016) | I'Mafraid the lead image here must be replaced entirely, as another member unfortunately saw it was an image of a vinyl record label, and edited it as such.
...Obviously, it's merely an image of a record label on a cover, but sadly, that which has been lost in the edit, cannot now be recovered... so a new one is needed.
|
Magic Marmalade 30th May 2023 | | CD SingleThe Madness - I Pronouce You (1988) | Images here have already been edited, so system won't allow any more to existing images.
A new image would be required, if so desired.
|
Magic Marmalade 25th May 2023 | | CD SingleFrankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome To The Pleasuredome (Original 7 Inch) (1993) | Going to leave notes for this as is... Original submitter added it, and it may be correct, regardless of what is on item - likely a mistake by issuing record company, so this observation is rightly in notes.
|
Magic Marmalade 10th Mar 2023 | | CD SingleDJ Shadow - What Does Your Soul Look Like (1995) | Are the "Parts" actually in that order on the disc?
|
Magic Marmalade 1st Mar 2023 | | CD SingleJoy Division - The Peel Sessions (31st January 1979) (1988) | Have sorted this entry out now...
...Having created a new entry for SteveG11's images, which feature a different catalogue number (SFPS 013 - as opposed to: SFPSCD013 here) as well as a barcode for that one.
This entry was originally created using this catalogue number (Without images), so it's only right that it remains as is for this catalogue number, and therefore the first images supplied (Being for the reissue) be moved to that new entry, which I have now done.
(Linked below)
Should be all square now :)
(Those owning and wanting may be advised therefore to check which version they have, and adjust accordingly)

Magic Marmalade 20th Dec 2022 | | CD SinglePetula Clarke - Downtown /This Is My Song | On the silver disc image here, under the Compact disc logo (left of centre) does it say: "Distributed in UK by..."?
There is something there not present on black disc representation image on front cover... and as this has French text, could this be considered therefore Europe release?
|
Magic Marmalade 16th Nov 2022 | | CD SinglePhil Collins - You Ought To Know... (1997) | I have this, and made this entry, so moved the UK entry contents here, as, from what I can see, the same basic issue was available in several different European countries - disc / cover, with only the additional insert being in different languages, depending on which European country it was issued in (obviously), so anyone who has it with a different language insert can put a scan of that insert on this page.

Magic Marmalade 28th Sep 2022 | | CD SingleNirvana - Singles (1995) | All links added now Greg :)
I've just removed the additional cats for the reasons you stated, and put them next to the relevant links for each CD. If there's any further tidying up needs doing, let me know.

Magic Marmalade 27th Sep 2022 | | CD SingleNirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (Edit) | I'll add all the links into notes if each between them and box tomorrow :)

Magic Marmalade 12th Aug 2022 | | CD SingleBee Gees - This Is Where I Came In (2001) | HDCD single!
...something new every day! :)
|
Magic Marmalade 10th Aug 2022 | | CD SingleDiana Ross - Not Over You Yet (1999) | More shennane-thingies from record companies.
They could just sent the promos out any time... days or weeks ahead, and that's not to say they won't revise the release date for the commercial issue already on the sticker of the promo after it's been sent out - pushed back a day, or week because of aliens landing and such.
The dates on these promos provide a good starting place for a date for the commercial issues, which can then be altered on that when someone comes along after and says: "They delayed that because of the Loch Ness Monster or something"
(So your other date, contradicting the sticker, might well be right!)
...Then we adjust, just making it a little more accurate as we go, when them that knows informs us :)
|
Magic Marmalade 10th Aug 2022 | | CD SingleDiana Ross - Not Over You Yet (1999) | Sorry Helen, but I've removed day and month from release date...
Promos don't give dates for themselves, but for the commercial release they are promoting.
The most we can give for promos is a year, as we don't know when these were sent out.
(If it's near enough to the end or beginning of the year, it might even be difficult to ascribe the right year!)

Magic Marmalade 22nd Jun 2022 | | CD SingleCharta 77 / Köttgrottorna - No Limit | The system does that when there is no clear single artist in the track listings unfortunately (whih is a pain)...
...I have gone with what's on cover and disc, and are the two most prominent artist on the release: Charta 77 / Köttgrottorna.
Let me know if you think otherwise.
|
Magic Marmalade 17th Jun 2022 | | CD SingleCharta 77 / Köttgrottorna - No Limit | Should the main artist here be better designated as Charta 77, rather than various artists, or leave as it is?
|
Magic Marmalade 31st May 2022 | | CD SingleRide - Twisterella (1992) | Just a note on Creation label releases in general, both for CD singles and albums:
I've picked up a few of both over the past couple of years where the promo discs are housed in barcoded retail packaging... which scuppers the usual way of rapidly zeroing in on promos when rifling through boxes of CDs, in checking for un-barcoded spines / flaps.
(works a treat for most other labels)
Sometimes the jewel cases will have promo stickers (blurb / hype sticker, and maybe a small round "promo" one), but just as often, not.
The point being, promos for this label, may not be as scarce as might be imagined, a lot of them hiding in standard packaging...in plain sight!
So if you are after them, you've got to open the case, and look at the disc!
|
Magic Marmalade 10th May 2022 | | CD SinglePink Floyd - Learning To Fly (Edited Version) (1987) | (Incidentally, I notice that the vinyl cover for the pink promo on cat has Terminal Frost listed, and it is noted that the track(s) are not on the disc (No cover for standard version)...
...So am wondering if this stands as evidence of the vinyl having come after the CD single, as they apparently just copied the artwork and made a cover from this).
|
Magic Marmalade 2nd May 2022 | | CD SingleBirth - Found A Way Out (2000) | ReviewVery deceptive CD this...
I thought it would be, judging by the cover (as you do :) that it might be the girl on the cover was the artist, as either singer / songwriter, maybe electronic artist, but actually this artist is an indie group (male singer) who have a very easy listening / middle of the road, Indie Eagles sound.
(Quite a good cover of the Black Sabbath song, later done by Osbourne and Daughter).
Fairly good all round, a bit slow, but tuneful, and a little better than average.

Magic Marmalade 2nd May 2022 | | CD SinglePink Floyd - Learning To Fly (Edited Version) (1987) | Found a copy of this yesterday fro 20p! (yay!)
With regard to comments below, is there any further knowledge on the "CD only" status?
I would have suggested the issue on vinyl was perhaps a capitulation to angry Floyd vinyl fans or something, who demanded a vinyl release after the initial CD only business, but looking at the vinyl page on 45cat, seems that came out before this (?)
The vinyl limited runs that technically didn't count as "release"... or just horse-apples from EMI?

Magic Marmalade 25th Apr 2022 | | CD SingleTerry Hall - No, No, No (1995) | This is an interesting one.
I found this the other day, and having brought it home and investigated it as much as I could, it still has an air of mystery about it for me, which I'm hoping someone can help illuminate me on...
... According to discogs, which also lists this as German, this single was withdrawn, although, listed on the back flap as catalogue numbers are:
ANX1028CD
4509-99168-2
France CAC773
With: "Made in Germany by Warner Manufacturing Europe" under them
So that would mean it was intended for generally Europe release?
Was this, therefore also intended for other countries... UK?
And if so, was it only withdrawn in one country, two or more (Making what would have been a Europe release just German, as stated)?
Why was it withdrawn?
To complicate matters further, mine has two promo stickers on the case, one just the usual small round white "Promotional copy only not for sale" in the middle, but a large sticker for:
"Promotions Department, Alan, Joe & Ruth" at Eastwest...
...And here's the real kicker:
Release date given as 27 FEB 1994!
(A full year earlier than what's printed on disc, unless it's a typo)
I haven't put pics up, because I'm unsure if Eastwest had anything to do with promoting this Anxious release, and it seems possible, even likely that my copy of the disc and J-card, have inexplicably found their way into a stickered case for some other release.
Odd.
Elsewhere, I have found only a couple of other references to it, describing it only as a German issue, but nothing to do with being withdrawn (Discogs only states this, but offers no supporting reasons or sources)
Terry Hall discography on wiki doesn't even list it among his singles.
So was is was unreleased... released, and then withdrawn, and any or both of these in which countries?
