Pridesale 7th Jun 2015		Review Having Seen this, probably countless times on the Telly ( I love British Black and White Movies (and US cop series )) , it manages to be both so typical early 50s Britain, and timeless. The re-make never quite did the same for me. George Cole being, effectively George Cole, great acting, great plotline (yes corny but its popular). And I thought Alastair Sim was a Miss. Ronald Searle as the illustrator/artist in a TV feature on him a number of years later showed how the Belles were a version of his Chinese WW2 captors and how they treated POWs in the Far East. With quite un-nerving sketches showed of the near torture being put to, and then similar with the girls' depicted. 3 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
