YankeeDisc SUBS 2nd Sep 2020		Saw this as a new release at the ABC Regal Brixton (in 1958), later to become "The Fridge" and the billboards outside the cinema stated "The Terry Dene Story", as he was a local lad from a couple of miles down the road at the Elephant & Castle. My mother knew an Irish girl Anne McGuire, who had been in America as a children's nanny, and on her return, got a job at the ABC Brixton as an usherette......she got some free tickets every week, and me as a ten year old who loved the movies, so I would avail myself of free entry to various films, I suppose at the age of 10 or 11 years old. This film was one of those I got a free ticket for. I sometimes went with one of my siblings, but mostly I went alone, where Anne would give me a good seat in the back stalls, and during the performance would ply me with an ice cream tub and a lolly.....free of charge. She was an absolute sweetheart, but left the job after a while and went back to the USA to work.....a couple of years later I heard the news that she had died of cancer in New York, and she was only in her mid twenties.
