YankeeDisc SUBS 20th Dec 2019		This short film (60 min) was part of the Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre series of 47 films shown in UK cinemas from March 1960 to October 1965 as part of "double features". They have been shown again on television from time to time, up to and including yesterday. I sat through many of these films at my local cinemas as a pre and young teenager, and they didn't really capture my attention, apart from the "Man of Mystery" theme music which was covered by The Shadows in 1960 Columbia DB 4530. This particular episode was Series 3 Episode 2, although none of the films were linked in any way, and the plots ranged far and wide. According to information this was first aired on 06-Jul-1962, although I do not know how that date can be accurately arrived at. They were churned out at about one per month by Merton Park Studios, and featured many familiar actors/actresses but no 'A' listers' like Jack Hawkins, Alec Guinness, Kenneth More or John Gregson. I have all 47 films saved on hard disk and I have come to realise that they were well executed films, made on a budget, and as such stand as a monument to British Film of that era.
