This release contains the same recordings as an earlier one from 1990 (Naxos 8.550335), but now with the addition of Jeremy Nicholas' narration for Peter and the Wolf.
The Symphony no. 6 in E flat was originally attributed to Mozart as his symphony no. 3 (K. 18) and listed as such in Breitkopf & Härtel's first edition of Mozart's works. It was later determined that the manuscript in Mozart's collection was in fact copied from Abel's score, with some changes to the instrumentation.
This recording has been released on some other budget labels; those other releases credit the Dallas Opera (at that time called Dallas Civic Opera). That may be the correct attribution, as Nicola Rescigno was a co-founder of the Dallas Opera.
Makes me wonder if this is one of those semi-legit Italian labels...
