I'm not sure what date you were looking at, but this was recorded in June 1992, at Winchester Cathedral
Speaking of David Hill, I was thrilled today to learn that he will be leading a 'singing day' in Macclesfield in October, working on sections of the Bach Mass in B minor: I signed up at once!
I'd assume, given the recording date you mention, that this/these were released on vinyl, under an SXL cat number(s) in the sixties, but I can't find any online :(
Here we hear Hill's recording of the processional march. Four trumpets and timpani mark this as a great occasion of state, held at Westminster Abbey in 1695.
The March was used by Walter Carlos as the theme for the film Clockwork Orange in 1971, a magnificent and menacing arrangement: Clockwork Orange Theme
The recording quality is spectacular; this is the record to play to show off your new hi-fi!
If it were less so this would still be an exemplary performance by Hill and the Winchester Cathedral Choir
