 Purcell's Elegy:


Now why would Scholl, at the height of his fame, sing a tribute to Klaus Nomi? Nomi had developed an act based on his bizarre stage presence and very fine countertenor voice. To me it is a matter of regret that Nomi didn't pursue a rigorous training in Classical music, being focused on the stage performance itself. Scholl here poses himself a challenge to sing this piece which was intended to be sung by a bass, and which perfectly suits the performance style of Nomi. A tribute to the man who had many admirers in the worlds of Classical and Pop music.
