 "A Garland For Linda" refers to the Garland Appeal, to which Paul dedicated this album. The "Garland" theme has an earlier Classical precedent as composer Robert Lucas de Pearsall wrote "Lay a Garland" in 1840:

Lay a garland on her hearse
Of dismal yew;
Maidens willow branches wear;
Say she dièd true...
Upon her buried body lie lightly,
Thou gentle earth.
