I have gotten into the habit of entering albums which have more than one orchestra / conductor on each side, of adding the "headline act" as the artist / conductor etc.

... Strictly speaking, I suppose it should be entered as "Various Artists", but when this is the case, they always present them this way on the cover: top billing on the front, and any work(s) on side 2 are only ever mentioned on the back and labels. The reason I enter them this way is that if someone had a copy of the record in hand, they would first read the details on the front (probably cat too), before searching...

...that said, according to my rule of thumb, I think I have made a mistake in this case, and the headlining conductor and orchestra should be changed to that of side 1.

Apologies.

It seens to be they have changed the orchestra on side 2 of the label, or made a mistake on the back of the cover.
The director Fritz Lehmann died in May 1956, so it's an old recording they reissued in the UK, probably for the first time in 1969.

Edit: Side 2 - the recording is in January 1956, with the Munich Philharmonic.

Can't answer that one, keebrev! Anyway, this doesn't appear to have been advertised or reviewed in GRAMOPHONE, but does say (P) 1969 on the labels, and as the DG/Polydor labels switched to 7-digit catalogue numbers in 1970, then this would have to be a 1969 or 1970 release.

And again a quiz... what are the differences between the record and the label....
