I got this yesterday with one of the last label types, as I thought it worth getting one to see if there was any appreciable difference in the quality of the vinyl of the later ones compared with the White / Gold labels ("ED 1").

Mine has the red labels with a colourised "nipper", "postage stamp" logo, but still has the triple flip-back laminated sleeve...

...And I have to say that when comparing the quality of the vinyl with my White / Gold Rostropovich (ASD 358), I can't really see or feel much of a difference. Those older vinyls are admittedly a little stiffer (those from about 1959/60 onwards seem to have only a tiny bit more "give" and flexibility, but are just as thick, and weigh about the same.

I'm going to give this a run in the next couple of days, but I imagine, from an "Audiophile" point of view, there won't be any major difference at all.

I think that the only issue might be what "generation" the plates are, in terms of how close to the first press it is...mine has only gotten to plate 4 on side one, and 13 on side two, which, when you consider that this was released in 1962 originally, and seems to be quite ubiquitous, isn't that far down the road, so to speak .

So I wouldn't be overly fussed if it is a title I'd like to hear, but on a later label, and shouldn't refuse a later one in the hope of finding a White / Gold label one (although that would be loverly, simply by virtue of those labels being things of beauty!).

But for the time being, the only other thing of note about this is the sleeve seems to be.... not quite embossed, but certainly vigorously impressed in the printing process. The text seems to have almost feelable outline, under the lamination.
