 Malcolm Sargent recorded a version of The Instruments Of The Orchestra in 1947, issued with an explanatory booklet on a 78. As Sir Malcolm Sargent he re-recorded it in 1959, released in 1960 as LXT 5573 (mono) & SXL 2199 (stereo), so that was the earlier issue. The players who demonstrated the instruments on both recordings were prominent soloists, and not necessarily members of any particular orchestra.
