Walter Goehr - conductor
One of the most brilliant among contemporary conductors, who, in this recording, is in command of the renowned Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, has spent most of his life in England, where he has directed innumerable concerts by the British Broadcasting Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras. During his many years of varied musical achievement he has directed major orchestras on the continent, and as composer has produced a considerable amount of music for performance in the concert hall, on the radio and in conjunction with motion pictures.

Mewton-Wood - pianist
Brilliant Australian pianist, rose to fame when sir Thomas Beecham introduced him to London audiences in 1940 with a much discussed performance of Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto. The young artist has since been heard throughout Europe, in South Africa and, naturally, Australia - in recital and as soloist with orchestra - and has won an enviable reputation as an outstanding interpreter of the classical and modern piano repertoire alike.
