That's a great name for the dance it'll make me do!

Let's all do: "The Nasty"

(On second thoughts... that might get you in trouble if you ask someone to join you :)

I shall continue to do penance by going about with sharp stones in my shoes and underpants... at least until Christmas. :)

Be careful, you could do yourself a nasty!!

It was all my fault doorman... I should have searched, found your entry here, and added my scans to it, and any additional info myself.

Rather than present myself as a complete dingus deluxe to your eyes.

I shall continue to do penance by going about with sharp stones in my shoes and underpants... at least until Christmas. :)

Thank you MM. Thank you Gill Sans.

Brainfade. Your forbearance is appreciated.

Thank you so much Gill Sans!

... I could have saved us both a lot of work if I'd have put in a little more effort in the search before I made my entry. I think comparing the two and deciding which details to move over was a job in itself... so your effort is greatly appreciated in this respect too.

Seeing the labels side by side is informative though... as the difference in colour is more apparent...

...Mine really are that more "sickly" colour, and I have seen Angel labels in this series before which are the same as Doorman's, so both, I can confidently say, are accurate representations of their respective colours. This is interesting, and probably useful in that I've seen a few descriptions of labels on the net where people will refer to the addition of the Nipper box as a dating feature (as well as the colour of the Angel that appears there in it's place), but I haven't yet seen any reference to the colour of the label itself. Mine are undoubtedly later labels, and you can see that, as well as the removal of the "Made in Gt Britain" text at the bottom of each label, the text has been shifted too.

I'll try and get a few more His Master's Voice Angel's when out on the dig in future.

MM: I have merged the two and corrected the label name, as suggested. Where you have given more details I have moved them here also: it would be a shame to see all your effort wasted!

It seems I've accidentally duplicated and existing entry with this.

I checked by means of a search beforehand, and nothing showed up, but then I clicked on the composer link in this entry, and found that doormanperdomo had previously entered it here.

My apologies to aforementioned doorman, I had no intention of Gazumping his entry (Sounds painful!), but it does expose a fault we have both made in our respective entries:

We both made the error of not adding the label in full as: His Master's Voice Angel series.

Dmpd added his as simply: His Master's Voice, whereas I entered mine as: HMV Angel series.

I think both are wrong, as the full label name of His Master's Voice, and Angel Series are given on both label and cover (Doh!)

This may also apply to the Greensleeves series, and others, where the full label name of His Master's Voice appears alongside the series name.

what are the thoughts and opinions of peeps here?

merge the two and correct the label name?

My apologies once again.

Bloody hell that entry was hard work to figure out!

We need a variety of colours and sectionbreaks to distinguish the different texts, headings, sides, acts, and other guff.

When I went out on the dig yesterday, it was in part with the intention of finding an Angel Series disc, as we haven't (until now) got any on site... and I wanted to see what they were like.

They don't seem to command the kind of prices that the straight HMVs do, even the ones with the red "nipper postage stamp" labels, but this has the exactly the same grade of vinyl as the equivalent red HMVs, essentially they are the same records, just with different labels, so I imagine it must be something to do with the source recordings.

(I'm thinking that this is the HMV releases from the once stand alone Angel Records catalogue (?))

The labels I've added are of the second variety, or second series labels, with the first ones being with a larger "Angel" logo, and without the HMV Nipper box in: coloured or b&w. Those first labels have a distinction in themselves apparently, with the large white angel logo being preferred to the ones with the black angel logo (I know, I know).

But this seems pretty good vinyl to me, and while I haven't played it yet, so can't review it, the press looks quite fine and nice too.

This originally came with an insert too, which unfortunately, I don't have.

..but I have added back cover detail scans which are of interest concerning this work.

Be happiness.
