Monolith 5th Jul 2015		Haven't missed much out there dude. LOL Yes, he was a very intelligent educated man I think I read he was a teacher before the silver screen.



Quad5point1 ● 5th Jul 2015		My faves would be Boys Will Be Boys (1935) Windbag the Sailor (1936) Where There's a Will (1936) Oh, Mr Porter! (1937) Good Morning, Boys (1937) Ask a Policeman (1939) Convict 99 (1939) Where's That Fire? (1940) The Ghost of St. Michael's (1941) The Black Sheep of Whitehall (1942) The Goose Steps Out (1942) My Learned Friend (1943) On top of all that he was a Polyglot. He was able to speak fluently in French, German, Latin, Italian, Norwegian and Afrikaans !!!



Monolith 5th Jul 2015		Really like this guy but his first 3 or 4 movie outings leave me cold. It wasn't until Boys Will Be Boys 1935 that he discovered the "Will Hay" character. Oh Mr Porter being my favourite and Where's The Fire also up there on my radar. The Ghost Of St. Michael's and The Black Sheep Of Whitehall are both excellent films as well. Hay teaming up with John Mills in the latter. The other one on this set is a swing and a miss as 1/ it's a musical & 2/ Hay is underused in it, as the name implies it's a parade of the crop of popular radio stars of the time so personally speaking doesn't interest me. But the other 2 would make this set worth the purchase.
