 Indeed Greg, it seems they are most often referred to as: "Snapper Cases"

In fact, it occurs to me that these are prime candidates for the kind of thing that might be the object of someone's collection habit... as they look good together on a shelf, are probably getting quite scarce, and the card cases probably not surviving in any kind of great condition now for the most part... like a pre-cursor to the digipak, they were the initial packaging for the first run of established classics on DVD.

But at the moment, it seems not.

 Is there a specific name for these (older?) cases with a plastic clip/opening along the r-hand edge,and with "Tabs" along the inside of the spines?
