George Slv 13th Feb 2017		DVD The Hammer Horror Series 8-Film Collection - Universal (2014)	A reissue of the 2005 release, this time without squeezing four movies on each disc. I had trouble playing 3 of the films on the 2005 set.
George Slv 22nd Jan 2017		VHS S.H.E. - Avant Vision	Abbreviating the title with a character other than period creates a problem for search. I don't take the + seriously, it was a decorative way of abbreviating. If this site allowed TV movies I would list it there.

George Slv 6th Jan 2017		DVD Satin Dolls - The Johnny Knorr Story (2011)	A 26 minute documentary by Michael Drew Shaw. The orchestra was popular in the mid-west from 1960 on as a Big Band revival band. There is some mention of some of the great female vocalists at the start. Some footage of his orchestra playing in some ballrooms. I have a DVD I could sell.

George Slv 11th Jun 2016		VHS The Phantom Of The Opera [1983] - Screencraft Video (1985)	An early video release which was hard to find, now available on DVD. This tape had an error in that two reels of film were put in the reverse sequence, in the section where the phantom is becoming acquainted with Maria the singer. In fact I was the only collector I knew who had a copy, and I traded some corrected copies with US collectors. Those copies may well have been passed beyond that and led to more interest in a release.
George Slv 11th Jun 2016		VHS P.O.W. (Prisoners Of War) - Delta	Information found at this Australian page. I don't know how to navigate that site and contact the person. Parallel to the Canadian tape release, this relied on the movie not being copyrighted there. P.O.W. was the grey market renaming.
George Slv 11th Jun 2016		VHS P.O.W. (Prisoners Of War) - Kestrel Gold Video (1986)	It's cute the way these releasers claim copyrights on their items when they do not own the copyright to the movie. Many of these Hammer films were not copyrighted in Canada at the time. They are public domain. "Grey market" does not mean illegal. When I was learning about Hammer in the 1990s and saw this POW video at the rental store, it gradually dawned on me that this was The Secret Of Blood Island. So it was a very valuable find.

George Slv 9th Jun 2016		VHS Blood Of The Vampire - Magnetic Video Corporation (1978)	In the 1990s it was thought that no prints of the film existed that had not faded to red, like on the cover image. But this 1978 release had it, which lo and behold I had found locally.
George Slv 28th Mar 2016		DVD The Island Of Adventure - Oracle Home Entertainment (2006)	Not to be confused with the 1996 Australian TV filming. There is a VHS of that one. This 1982 only has a DVD that is scarce. In my opinion this production is miserable. Some of the cast is very poor or unpleasant. Acting is minimal. Photography does not look impressive. Go for the 1996. Norman Bowler here as Bill Smugs looks just like Gareth Hunt as Bill Cunningham in Castle Of Adventure (1990). I wonder if he changed his name.
George Slv 28th Mar 2016		VHS The Castle Of Adventure - Tempo Video (1990)	The length was cut from something like 2:30 to 1:58. The full TV show cannot be found. This was a standalone production. Turned out good, captured the mood of the book. I can't play PAL so I could sell my copy.

George Slv 29th Nov 2015		LaserDisc Swing: The Best Of The Big Bands - Volume 2 (1987)	This was the only video release to ever include Teresa Brewer's 1951 Snader performance of Old Man Mose, probably her most interesting of those. There was also a VHS release. [YouTube Video] YT video from the VHS source, slightly tinted. I got this for its importance but can't play LD.

George Slv 12th Jul 2015		DVD Abbott And Costello - Legendary Comedy Duo (Vol 2)	To figure the release history: The disc says released by Television Classics, Volume 2. The cover says released by Keepsake Pictures. I think Classics had a 3 DVD series of releases, and Keepsake likely only chose to reissue the second. So all of these would have been digitally remastered.

George Slv 11th Jul 2015		DVD Abbott And Costello - Legendary Comedy Duo (Vol 2)	There are various releases of these TV shows. I feature this because it's remastered, presumably better than others. Picture and sound are crisp. Does this mean other similar releases were not mastered the same way? However they are all from kinescopes, which was a movie film made off a TV screen during the live show. There was no video tape. So the basic picture has some clarity issues, there are white margins along vertical borders, like faces. This is also a characteristic of VHS HQ - white clipping, so I'd like to know the exact generations this has passed thru. These shows seem to be public domain now.

But it's known that it's really an unfinished film project, without a coherent script. It was first intended to be a 3-film trilogy. So what you get in this is scattered scenes from a much longer story.
