The Boy [2016] - Entertainment In Video (2015)
I'm not sure the director is right here (as from Cinema World),only it's William Brent Bell on this one,a different "The Boy"perhaps?

Added scans of the free book "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?" (Philip K.Dick) (from which, the original Blade Runner was derived) that was given away with either the DVD,Blu-ray or 4KUHD Discs (here in the UK,at least).

Blade Runner 2049 - Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (2018)
Rated 8/10
Being a Sci-Fi fan,i was looking forward to this one,and it didn't really disappoint, given that most sequels are never quite as good as the original work, this one does a fair job of living up to the reputation of the first. The only things i would criticise perhaps,is that it tries too hard/too often to reference the previous work, and thereby suffers by not being it's "own" film. Also,i understand the overall "dark and moody" approach, but sometimes,it's a bit too "dark and moody",and could maybe have done with some lighter moments thrown in,it's also a tad too long, other than that,it's a good sequel;) 8/10

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets - Lionsgate (2017)
Not a great plot but visually stunning.Based on a comic "Valerian and Laureline".Another visual feast from Luc Besson (The Fifth Element,Lucy). My only gripe is that there is so much gong on at any one time,so much detail in the graphics, that you find yourself missing action in the centre of the screen, whilst you are distracted by whats happening in the corners of the screen,or perhaps i'm just getting old;),a film for the young and quick of eye perhaps;)
(will probably benefit with repeated viewings)
I expect this would be fantastic if viewed on the large screen.
A nice cameo from Rihanna also.

For once,a film that lives up to the hype on the artwork,at least,it made me jump :)

A pervert's dilemma;)
I've not seen the film,so do i open it?,or leave it forever as it is,in it's plastic "gimp" slipcase and tight shrinkwrap? ;)

Inception - Warner Home Video (2010)
With a nod to Quad5point1 added a scan of an alternative slipcase front with a Lenticular lens, which has,(typically) not scanned so well (it shows the buildings "folded-up" above the standing group).
All else matches scans shown (exactly).

Kraftwerk Minimum - Maximum (2005)
Review
Although Kraftwerk have never been the most animated of performers (they stand rooted to the spot mostly, with the occasional head-bob or foot-tap;)The screen behind them makes up for any lack of movement, and audibly, this is one of the few concerts in 5.1 that would make me reconsider getting a surround sound set-up again(although the girlfriend might not be too happy;),it sounds great, made for 5.1

Alien: Covenant - 20th Century Fox (2017)
Rated 6/10
Have to say,as an "Alien" fan, that this was a big disappointment.Personally,i found only a couple of the characters believable, the plot really plods along, even where there is supposed to be tension, there isn't any (you know nowadays that any of the half-important characters are not going to be killed off, despite increasingly ridiculous odds;),and they've tried to reveal too much of the monster's early development, leaving none of the mystery anymore, and surely,it's the mystery that makes a true monster.
A cash-in :(

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 - Marvel (2017)
Rated 8/10
Although not normally a fan of sequels, this one's not bad,and although the plot is rather tenuous,it's made up for by the stunning visuals, which, have surely raised the bench-mark for any further sequels in this series, which director James Gunn alludes to there possibly being many more in "The Making Of....",unsurprising perhaps,as this had a working budget of $200,000,000 ,and has already grossed over $389,000,000 (to date)(according to IMDB),the merchandising opportunites seem to be endless, especially with the ultra-cute Groot (or "Twiglet" as i named him;),kids, and bigger kids alike, will snap it up.At least there is some tongue-in-cheek humour here, like in the first film, and it doesn't take itself to seriously, just sit back, and enjoy the ride :)
(PS Another good soundtrack btw, courtesy of an "Awesome Mix Vol.2" cassette left to Peter by his mum,the inspired opening sequence using ELO'S "Mr.Blue Sky" is worth the price of admission alone:)

Star Wars - 20th Century Fox (1982)
My one, and possibly only, LaserDisc, found this in a box of LP’s (not surprising perhaps, as it’s the same size as an LP, and could easily get mistaken for one at a glance perhaps) .Haven’t come across this format since the early eighties, whilst working in Comet ,all I remember was that the machines were the size of suitcases, and bloomin’ heavy;).It’s basically like a big 12" CD, if nothing else, I now have a means of signalling passing aircraft should the need arise.)

Ghost In The Shell [2017] - Paramount (2017)
Translates from the Manga 1995 original fairly well, and although the script may be somewhat lacking/plodding in places, the near-future city-scapes (reminiscent of Blade Runner,) and cyber-enhanced characters make up for it visually.

I would have thought it might be better to segregate it,so that it's searchable,i.e,search "Manga"?(as opposed to looking for Manga in "Animation",there's tons of this out there, and while i appreciate their is not much on the site at the moment,it will surely build up over time,so instead of having to "Tag" thousands of Manga entries, wouldn't it be easier to add it as a an option in the genres now? (just trying to think ahead ;)

Rated 5/10
Although i enjoy most of Jackie's films,in this one,i didn't believe either his,or any other of the actors characters, and so,just ended up watching it for the fighting (which was alright),so,despite all the money that must have been spent here, only 5 out of 10 for me.

WALL·E - Buena Vista (2008)
I had a go at scanning the pull-out case (it opens once again, revealing the two Discs),but it was a bugger to scan, ideally,it needs a bigger scanner,so i'll let someone else do the honours. There is a bonus short animation, titled "BURN·E",who was the small droid (welding robot) who gets caught outside of the spaceship when EVE and WALL·E's ship enters the larger mothership and the hatch closes,it's quite funny:)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Lucasfilm (2017)
Rated 9/10
Bought this on a whim, and glad i did, good stuff!.Not so much of a nostalgia trip as The Force Awakens, although there are the obligatory cameo's from C3PO/R2D2 and a brief one-liner from a CG recreation of a young princess Leia, and Peter Cushing is resurrected with some clever CGI ,which although quite clever,is a bit strange, and,is it right?.A new droid K-2SO has a refreshingly dry wit.Stunning visuals as you would expect, along with plenty of action/aliens/planet hopping. The type of film that needs a few viewings to fully appreciate.(After a second watch,i've changed the rating to 8.5/10)

Not quite as good as it's hyped-up to be on the front artwork IMHO (then, most aren't;),but good nonetheless, with fine attention to detail,so a casual fan of Manga/Anime might appreciate it also.Half-decent plot set amongst a near future cityscape, will be interested to see how well it translates to the "live action" version of the film.
