gregs45s SUBS ● 11th Feb 2024		DVD The Essential Clash - Sony Music	OK, so, i haven't come across one of these before, a test DVD presumably sent to reviewers/the publisher?, i've seen similar test CD's but not a test DVD until now.It has the full programme/menus as the commercial "The Essential Clash" release from 2003, with 12 music videos, 1 silent black and white film entitled "Hell W10" featuring members of the band, 3 early promo videos (which are great), "I Fought The Law" live and an interview clip from 1976. The Disc matrix is ... Sony Music IFPI L557/558 52018869000-A911/52018869000-B911 17 The customer is SME UK (?) and i wonder if that should have been SMV UK who perhaps are the SMV Enterprises who did the UK commercial release ?. I was lucky enough to see The Clash fairly early at the Southampton Top Rank in Nov '77, where they were supported by Richard Hell And The Voidoids and The Lou's, which was part of the "Get Out Of Contol Tour", it was a great concert, and i've just found an audio recording of that entire concert on YouTube which i'm listening to now, ahhh, nostalgia ;)

gregs45s SUBS ● 13th Jul 2023		Blu-ray Avatar: The Way Of Water - 20th Century Studios (2023)	Have not watched this yet (sometime this weekend, no spoilers please;) but surprised to see it's only got a 7.6/10 rating on IMDB. Bit miffed with the packaging as, instead of the usual rigid "Amaray" Blu-ray case, you get a flimsy "Elite" case, which flexes alarmingly as you try to open it!, and, it only holds a reduced size inlay/artwork which, is also on thinner than usual card/paper. (Here's hoping the film's good anyway;) I was also shocked to find that the 3D Blu-ray of this is £34.99 in HMV!, Gulp! (Now watched and i must say deserves better than a 7.5/10, i would rate it at an 8 or 8.5/10. Technically, it's brilliant, the one reserve being that it's about half an hour longer than it may have needed to be)

Eric Clapton - Layla / Madonna - Vogue / The Three Tenors - O Sole Mio / Cardigans - Lovefool / Cake - The Distance / 311 - Down / I thought the first DVD's were released in 1996?, making this 1998 release a bit late to be something "new" i would have thought?.

gregs45s SUBS ● 1st May 2023		DVD Monsters, Inc. - Buena Vista (2002)	I wonder why this keeps appearing in the Top 50's?, i think it may be one of those "sticky's" that have turned up in the past, it seems to be in the DVD Top 50 almost daily. (I realise it's a popular movie, but... ;)

gregs45s SUBS ● 17th Aug 2022		DVD Joan Baez 75th Birthday Celebration - Razor And Tie (2016)	Not a bad gathering, guests include...David Bromberg, David Crosby, Damien Rice, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, Indigo Girls, Richard Thompson, Judy Collins, Nano Stern, Paul Simon, all still in fairly strong voice. 8/10
gregs45s SUBS ● 15th Jun 2022		VCD Ronaldinho - Unknown (2006)	A bit of detective work was/is required on this one as i could not find it online, i am guessing it's Chinese? as the ISRC code reads ... ISRC - CN-A39-06-0028-0/V.G4. Looking around it appears that ISRC codes start with the country (CN here, so presumably China) followed by the company code (unknown) and then the date (06 here). If anyone can confirm it's Chinese, and, if so, perhaps would be good enough to add any missing details with regard to the publisher/title etc., that would be helpful Thanks in advance.
gregs45s SUBS ● 7th May 2022		Blu-ray Total Recall - Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (2012)	MODS... This is the one with Colin Farrell playing the lead not the original I'm normally not a fan of remakes, but this stands on it's own, as it doesn't follow the original story line exactly, and so differs enough to make it interesting to see what happens next. There are some (funny) nods to the original, and some great effects, the future city-scapes being well done, if not a little reminiscent of Bladerunner, but then, all city's will probably go this way with plenty of neon advertising and mostly rainy days (the way the weathers going:) I would give it an 8/10 for effort.
gregs45s SUBS ● 10th Feb 2022		Blu-ray Dune [2021] - Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (2022)	MM Just seen your review for this one, which coincidentally i watched last night. I'd have to agree with your comments, and i think it's good stuff (the remaking of any classic must be tough, and i think they've done a good job here) One problem though, nowhere on any of the artwork does it say "Part 1" !, you only find that out when you put the Disc in !, had i known this i might not have coughed up the pennies ! I am now considering suing Warner Bros. ;)

I sat down to watch this,knowing that there would be a "cringe factor" involved given the date,but,even allowing for this,it's dire,drugs being the only thing that could make it better;) (@Quadpoint5..Perhaps agree to disagree on this one? ;)(no harm intended,just a difference of opinion)

(an hour and a half of my life that i'll never get back;),another case of "too many cooks..."

It's a hard one to sum up in a few sentences, but it really is essential viewing for anyone who’s ever wondered if life on the road really is as exciting as it seems This DVD is feature packed with hilarious behind the scenes footage, live clips and gives fans an intriguing insight into what life really is like on the road. Like they say, what goes on the road, stays on the road! Or maybe not...just buy it. This DVD also includes a video of the recording of Let Love Come the next single from Go West." I got this second-hand and, although i can clearly make out both Richard Drummie's and Peter Cox's signatures (Go West),i can't make out the other one,anyone?. (Title correction submitted)

Haven't seen this yet (tonight's viewing) ,but by all accounts,supposedly a good portrayal of the band,so looking forward to it. (PPS Excellent! 9/10)

gregs45s SUBS ● 2nd Sep 2018		LaserDisc Star Wars - 20th Century Fox (1982)	@Paul Woods Hi,i can only point out what's on ebay,and looking at the history,one sold (open) for £7,and one didn't sell for £17.There is currently one on ebay (not good condition)with one bid of £5 with a couple of days to go,so it might be worth keeping an eye on that one,to see how it ends. If you have two that are sealed,then they would command a premium i would imagine (starting price of £20 might be about right?),it's a matter of finding a Star Wars fan out there would wants it,so auction sites might be your best bet Unfortunately,we don't sell or offer for sale anything on this site yet,so it would have to be put on ebay or similar sites by yourself. cheers Greg

(Philip K.Dick) (from which,the original Blade Runner was derived) that was given away with either the DVD,Blu-ray or 4KUHD Discs (here in the UK,at least).
