jaimeeduardo 28th Jun 2017 | | Blu-rayThe Mad Magician In 3D - Twilight Time (2017) | Rated 8/10This 3D version in black and white brings the 1954 film to life with sharp 3D that makes full use of the technology. Perfect for this typical Vincent Price thriller featuring magic tricks, 3D surprises, and perilous situations.

jaimeeduardo 14th Nov 2016 | | Blu-rayIt Came From Outer Space - Universal (2016) | Rated 10/10I gave this a high rating because it's a classic 1950s sci-fi film in a beautiful black and white transfer with enhanced sound, a strong cast, vintage cars/styles in a high quality production. The 3D is well done. I found myself looking sometimes at the images rather than following the story. This is a 3D film I will view again and again.
The accompanying documentary discusses this film in particular, exploring the 3D effects and the place of this film in the historical context of sci-fi films and the development of 3D feature films.

jaimeeduardo 22nd May 2015 | | DVDPretty Poison [1968] - 20th Century Fox (2006) | ReviewInteresting to note that IMDb shows "Comedy" as the first genre for this film (I didn't use it here). While there is some satire, I find the word "comedy" to be inappropriate. Other reviewers note the scary impact the Tuesday Weld character has. Sure, she's the bright cheerleader with the "ideal" mother driving her shiny new car, but underneath the glitter and brightness there is a creeping sense of evil. Arsenic (also 'visual' arsenic) comes to mind. Some of the images and characters may haunt one long after viewing. Morph these characters a little, and one could come up with a later film, Natural Born Killers. Also memorable, but also not a comedy in my opinion.
Pretty Poison also has a (pointless) remake.
