(just spotted this) - umm, not atm, i'm still in lancaster, feeding my ex's triffids and watering the cat; last day, though - they should be back from malta today - so yr hmbl srppnt.'ll be able to check "wot i dun rong" some time tonight. (the doctor who dvds haven't had time to sink into the depths of the geological stratificatory filing system - well, not very far - not yet. . .)(can you pm me back the correction i requested - once it's sent, we've no record of it automagically put into e.g. our pm out-box.)(which might be a Good Idea to suggest, if it's a possibility?) edit: - 'k: back home & awake: it's " "musical scales" musical experimentation in doctor who; " as needs deleting from features: paragraph/section.
ppint. 4th May 2017		DVD Eye For An Eye [1996] - Paramount (2002)	prior to bar-codes and isbns, eans and the like, publishers of necessity developed their own cataloguing systems by which their books, 78s, lps, singles, eps and cds could be warehoused and found again, and ordered by a firm shorter than title - author/editor - imprint (& the equivalents thereof). these were the catalogue numbers, or cat#s, frequently in the music industry partly alphabetical, with the alpha prefix indicating label (equivalent of book publisher's imprint) and often the legally-maintained or recommended retail price. as the isbns (nowadays, since the introduction of isbn-13s, retrospectawigglilly-termed isbn10s), eans and, eventually, bar-codes came in, some publishers, record companies & music companies allocated these in a more-or-less rational fashion, built up from their cat# systems; some did not - and some ignored the new systems pretty well completely, so the cat# was not, and has not fully been superceded. dvds (& blu-ray discs) are commonly still allocated a cat# by which smaller retailers can order them (on release and for restocks); some small record & cd-publishing music companies (and publishers) still function without any form of computerised stock-control & (less commonly) accounts system: for these, the cat# (or, in extremis, the full long-hand title - author/editor/singer/group/band/orchestra,soloist(s)+conductor - imprint/label name) are required. if nowhere else, a dvd's cat# will normally be found at/near head or foot of the standard case insert.

ppint. 17th Apr 2017		DVD Futurama • Volume Four - 20th Century Fox (2003)	the charity shop had discs 1 & 4, and the cases for 1, 2, 3 & 4; i think they broke up a possibly incomplete boxed or card slip-cased set, as the printed-paper inserts are bare of any bar-codes. they let me have the insert for #3, but not that for #2. . . (i'm absolutely certain all four referred to leela as "leila" - but i could be wrong; i'll check the three printed-paper inserts i have, tonight...) (edit: nope, it's "leela". "woops...")
ppint. 13th Apr 2017		DVD I, Robot - 20th Century Fox (2004)	the central section of the disc is not printed on my copy, but left as a semi-opaque ~.5 cm annular ring between two narrow high-gloss transparent rings, else identical sfaics: no disc 2, no provision for a disc 2, and no suggestion that there should be one - save for the "disc 1" printed on the obverse. . .
ppint. 9th Apr 2017		DVD Kill Bill Volume 2 - Buena Vista (2004)	mine is very close to, but not identical with, this: same bar-code, but cat# Z1 D881274, & no republic of ireland age classification on the printed-paper insert - though it is present on the disc. two offer vouchers were included: one for a free single admission ticket at a uci cinema in uk or ireland (valid 'til end 31/10/2004), one for a free 275ml bottle of wkd iron brew or blue at your local yates's bar (valid 'til end 31/12/2005).

ppint. 23rd Mar 2017		DVD Conan The Destroyer - The Sun (2006)	distributed free of any additional charge with the sun "newspaper" in the uk-of-gb (& norn iron?) in twin-pocket card sleeve with empty pocked pre-printed for the separately similarly-distributed dvd of the "highlander" film.
ppint. 17th Mar 2017		DVD Van Helsing - Universal (2004)	mine is, sfaics, identical except: the printed-paper insert is of a generally greyer overcast hue, rather than blue or green; and the cat# is 823 113 5 • 11 top left rear corner, bar code no. 5050582311358.

ppint. 21st Sep 2015		Multi-Format The 10th Victim - Shameless (2014)	the four-authored screenplay (in italian) is based upon the robert sheckley story, "the seventh victim"; sfaiaa, no-one knows for certain why the required score/body-count was raised to ten. the novel, "_the tenth victim_", based upon the screenplay, is by robert sheckley, who later wrote two companion novels to it, "_victim prime_" (methuen, london 1/87) & "_hunter/victim_" (methuen, london 5/88).

ppint. 8th Sep 2015		DVD Dune - Castle Home Video (1999)	mmarmmellaade: but if lynch'd been allowed to aim for a film half as long again (c. 190 mins instead of ~135), and shoot enough extra explanatory expansion to take an "producer's cut" up to two full dvds... - fans'd've delighted in it more, and for longer, - but would it have been any more coherent?
