Biography - Phoenix Arts Centre

The Phoenix Arts Centre building opened in 1963 as the Phoenix Theatre.
It became the Phoenix Arts Centre in 1988. When a new Arts Centre, confusingly also called Phoenix, was opened in 2009 the original centre was briefly closed.
It reopened in 2010 as the Upper Brown Street Theatre and was renamed again in 2014 as the Sue Townsend Theatre.
