Bluesology - Biography

The major part, usually poorly documented, of the early fame of one Reg Dwight - later had some more fame as Elton John.
This band did not seem to have a main front man, perhaps the nearest to such was Stuart Brown. That could have been as a very large part of their careeer was in backing touring U. S. soul singers / legends; such as Major Lance, Patti Labelle and Edwin Starr.
For 4 or 5 years from late 1962 to late 1968 - though Reg left in March '68 - Bluesology went through several line-ups, expanding the members often. Gigging properly began in March 1965. At the end of '66 or beginning of '67 the group became mainly, though not exclusively, Long John Baldry's backing band.
Eventually, in November 1967, Baldry struct gold with a UK no. 1 pop single and after many years of furthering aiding young r'n'b musicians (Rod Stewart, Brian Auger, Marsha Hunt, etc) he moved onto a cabaret club circuit, which this backing band came to dislike intensely. Long John only hit the UK charts 3 more times and that well after all the above had parted. (Aug & Oct '68, and Jan '69).
Bluesology released 3 singles under their own name - 6 sides - and possibly recorded a few other tracks; from vast live repertoire.
