States Of Unrest - BiographyThe States of Unrest Collective was insurrected in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire in 1986, in response to global neo-liberalism, US imperialism and the Thatcher government's attacks on working class communities. Primary musical influences remain Woody Guthrie, Gang of Four, Dead Kennedys, Edgar Broughton, NWA, Kevin Coyne, Public Enemy, Gong, Crass, The Redskins, Lennon, Marley, Dead Prez, the Fugs, Zappa, etc. In the 1990s the Collective formed cells in Hull & Bristol, continuing to challenge the Fascist World Order. Political influences are wide and varied: the Soledad Brothers, Malcolm X, the Panthers, Kwame Nkrumah, Fanon, the SLA, the PLO, Mandela, the Sandinistas, Guevara, Chavez, Morales, Heffer, Scargill, Class War, Paul Foot, Meinhoff, etc etc through to Bernie Sanders, Varoufakis & Corbyn....... the struggle continues, « Back to Artist Edit This Biography : Biography Credits
