Windy Millers - Biography

The Windy Millers was a short-lived band formed at Nottingham University in 1990 by Stuart Frobisher (vocals), Matthew Wood (guitar) and Benet Owen Crangle (drums). Stuart Frobisher's vocal style and lyric writing showed a strong Billy Bragg influence, whilst the guitar style was more classic rock oriented than most early 90s indie rock. Their original songs included 'Black Plastic Gadget', and their live set usually closed with a cover of the Clash's 'Should I Stay or Should I Go'. The band recorded one short collection of demos at a studio in Stockport. and performed an ill-advised non-stop 24-hours gig in support of charity at Nottingham University. The Windy Millers probably peaked at their 1991 slot supporting Kingmaker and The Wonderstuff. They split shortly afterwards on the departure of Stuart Frobisher.
