Dr Doom SUBS 29th Nov 2024		Live Music Karen Hill : Chris Rowley : Jon Slade @ New River Studios (2024)	It was a great surprise for everyone when 3/5ths of Huggy Bear played a brief set for the first time in 30 odd years. They were at great pains to point out that 'THIS IS NOT A HUGGY BEAR REUNION' so I've credited them under their own names.

Dr Doom SUBS 5th Jan 2023		Live Music Weezer @ The Astoria (1995)	I've seen tickets for a Weezer show dated June 16th, 1995 so either they played twice in the space of a month or as I suspect the show was delayed due to Rivers Cuomo sustaining some kind of injury as he was in some form of leg brace during this show!

The band looked pretty pissed off throughout the performance and after the show ended a punch up broke out between Axl and Duff and they were both chucked out by the bouncers. Dr Doom SUBS 2nd Jul 2018		Live Music Queens Of The Stone Age And Friends @ Finsbury Park (2018)	Review Although the bands were great on the day. Almost everything else wasn't. Queues to get a drink stretched all around the park taking up to 2 hours!!! to get served. Toilet queues similarly insane. And only opening one exit to let 45,000 people out at the end seems at best stupid and at worst dangerous. And of course no-one is going to take responsibility or suffer any penalty for the worst organised music festival I have ever been to.... Dr Doom SUBS 6th Sep 2016		Live Music Teenage Fanclub @ Islington Assembly Hall (2016)	Review With Norman Blake now residing in Canada this was a rare live appearance in London and TFC were of course as dependably excellent as ever. This was very much a greatest hits set with only a few songs from their new album (out this week). The new songs sounded great and I'm glad I've pre-ordered the vinyl. Highlights for me were 'The Concept' (with a massive crowd singalong), 'Your Love Is The Place Where I Come From' and 'Sparky's Dream'. I was unfamiliar with the band's music but they were seemed like a pretty decent indie/garage band. They played a host of covers, getting into the spirit of the night. Only the bigger acts got soundchecks and the whole day felt a little flat. Thinking about it Idha probably sounded better than most acoustically.

Dr Doom SUBS 24th Mar 2015		Live Music Power @ The Barfly (2015)	A hugely fun A.O.R. and Power Ballads cover band. The setlist included Jump!, Livin' On A Prayer, Paradise City, I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That), Don't Stop Believin' and perhaps the highlight - Total Eclipse Of The Heart. Musically they were spot on. I would knock off a point for the guys in the band hair being too short and not fluffy enough and for their choice of axes but seen as I had such a great time I'll keep it a powerful 10/10. Apparently you can book this lot for weddings, corporate events etc. Almost worth getting married for. ; )
