zabadak 18th Apr 2023		Live Music Infinita, Beyond Borders Música Llanera @ Cafe OTO (2022)	Undisputed queen of Afro-Latin fusion, the Venezuelan cuatro player and vocalist Luzmira Zerpa presents her continuing exploration of the wider reaches of musica tropical. She will be focussing on the llanero repertoire – music of the tropical plains of Venezuela – from her forthcoming record on Mais Um Discos. Luzmira is accompanied by three virtuoso musicians: Colombian Harpist Diego Laverde, Venezuelan Adolfredo Pulido on bass and Venezuelan master percussionist Carlos Talez. “To be a llanero is to be from the landscape, from the earth, from the plain, from the stars, from the distant horizon… and that is sublime.” Luzmira Zerpa “Astoundingly rich and expressive voice.” Songlines “Flamboyant and Powerful.” The Guardian No age restrictions. Under 18s need to be accompanied by an adult at all times. There is both seating and standing at the venue, but seating is unallocated: they are on a first come first served basis. :happy:

Capturing the magic and spirit of David Bowie, his former producer and bassist Tony Visconti is joined by Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory, plus all-star band, Holy Holy to perform music from Bowie’s extensive back catalogue, in an intoxicating show of adoration and respect for their old friend. One of the world’s most celebrated producers, Visconti played on Bowie’s first two records and went on to produce ten of David’s albums throughout his career. An opening performance comes from Tony Visconti's daughter Jessica Lee Morgan, raised on rock and folk, she's a unique singer songwriter, performing with acoustic guitar and percussion strapped to her boots. :happy:

From vain peacocks to belligerent guinea fowl, the miniature portraits of Renard’s Histoires Naturelles offer an enchanting alternative perspective on life, viewing the nature of humanity through the prism of the animal kingdom. They’ve also proved a bountiful source of inspiration for both Maurice Ravel and Ryan Wigglesworth, whose long-awaited song cycle receives its premiere. A generous performer with a relatable and down-to-earth stage presence, we have no hesitancy in describing Roderick Williams as something of a national treasure. The level of thought, detail, and intelligent musicality he applies to every programme invariably leads him down interesting (and often surprising) musical rabbit holes, as you’ll discover for yourself in this delightful exploration of bird and animal behaviour in twentieth-century song. :happy:

zabadak 19th Jan 2018		Live Music Atomic Rooster @ Under The Bridge (2018)	From venue website Atomic Rooster TIMINGS Doors 7pm Creedence Clearwater Revived 8.15 Atomic Rooster 9.15 Curfew 11pm AGMP presents ATOMIC ROOSTER + CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVED Atomic Rooster were formed from the ashes of the The Crazy World of Arthur Brown in 1969. Their debut gig was at the Lyceum in London (supported by Deep Purple) and their first self-titled album was released in February 1970. It was after the release of “Death Walks behind you” that they had their first taste of UK chart success with “Tomorrow Night” and “Devil’s Answer“. The band split in 1975 and briefly reformed in the early 1980’s. Main band member Vincent Crane joined Dexys Midnight Runners in 1985 for the “Don’t Stand me Down” album before he sadly passed away in 1989. :cool:
