Music Festival
Notes Held in Bath Pavilion Recreational Ground with the permission of the Bath Festival Society. Promoted by Freddy and Wendy Bannister, who had been promoting club shows in London. Simply organised with tables at the gates and screens to prevent people getting in for free, all the bands used the Pavilion as a back stage area. All 30,000 sold tickets in the first week of sale. There were performances by Colosseum and Roy Harper, who were not on the advertisements, but Babylon, Group Therapy and Clouds probably did not perform. Michael Eavis attended and it was the performance of Led Zeppelin that inspired him to hold his first festival at Worthy Farm, near Glastonbury, the following year.
