The first of 6 shows on consecutive nights at this new venue, Pink Floyd were one of the first bands to appear here (the first were Duran Duran), this was billed as "A Gala Night For Charity".

rustieneil SUBS 6th Jun 2016		I remember queuing early at the box office for tickets in those pre-internet days and was very pleased to get tickets centre stage and 14 rows from the front. When my mates and I arrived we were appalled to learn that due to "technical stage setup changes" i.e. a complete cockup, our seats were no longer there and we were told we'd have to sit somewhere much further back and over to one side. Needless to say we weren't too happy, politely expressed our dismay and refused to move. Eventually Harvey Goldsmith himself appeared and we told him to get stuffed as well. The band were due on stage in a few minutes and there was an air of panic amongst the venue staff trying to deal with quite a few disappointed fans who had not been persuaded to move elsewhere. A stand-off ensued and eventually we were given seats in the front row (I have no idea why these had been left empty), just before the show started.
