djdan2010 4th Sep 2024		One of the hottest and most humid days of the long, hot summer of 1976. This was an amazing open-air event with Queen riding high on the success of "A Night At The Opera" and it almost gave you a taste of what Woodstock was like but on a much smaller scale with only 150,000 people attending. I remember vividly cans and bottle being thrown at the people at the front of the crowd because those at the back could not see the stage. Kiki Dee sang "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" which was the record of Summer '76 but Elton John did not appear. Instead, she duetted with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Elton instead The compere for this event was the Old Grey Whistle Test's very own "Whispering" Bob Harris.
