Tickets were $1.01 and all proceeds went to the United Way charity. Attendance was approximately 50,000. The event was very successful, but the city decided not to issue permits for it the following year, thus the "first annual" became the only one. KGB radio (101.5 FM...thus the ticket price) then began a very successful yearly series of charity albums titled "Homegrown", featuring local and southern California artists. Eight of these albums were produced from 1973 to 1983.
