Live Music
Notes This half hour TV programme, was made by HTV, but screened on BBC 1 in September/October 1973 as a regional programme and shown in Midland, East Anglia and West Country areas only with a late evening (10.15-10.45) timeslot. This recording has been entered with a dummy date of 31st August, and would have been recorded after 27th August (when drummer Billy Sparkle left) and before 27th September (when frontman Mutter Slater had also left). The lineup for this HTV live recording was the very short lived, and otherwise unheard (as they played no other live gigs) Andy Davis, Mike Evans, Mutter Slater, Crun Walter, James Warren, and John White (Sparkle’s short lived replacement) on drums. By 24th October Andy Davis had become the band’s drummer, moving from guitar, and John White had left. The recording is made at HTV Bristol studios in front of a live audience and features a very tight recording unit making a broadcast to promote music from their as yet unreleased newly recorded George Martin produced LP “The Man In The Bowler Hat”. With Mutter’s departure, the late ‘73 release was delayed until February 1974. Tracks recorded for this TV special are: The Volunteer, God Speed The Plough, Do The Stanley, Fundamentally Yours, The Galloping Gaucho, The Road To Venezuela Comments and Reviews
