In the wake of the last minute cancellation of the UK/Ireland Tour in July/August, The Beach Boys, as the labels latest signing, played this convention for label executives- much to the anger of Beach Boys fans.

A double LP bootleg recording of this convention appearance subsequently emerged.
The performance met with mixed reviews in the music press, and in the Melody Maker the reviewer also noted tension between Brian and Mike- particularly when the latter during Fun Fun Fun apparently "attempted to turn the grand piano over, but instead toppled Wilson's mike over. Wilson looked positively terrified at this and when the song ended, walked from behind the keyboard, keeping one eye on Love, waved and left the stage."
