Two shows played. First date of the Beach Boys fourth European Tour. In addition to the core band, the Beach Boys also included Ed Carter (bass), Mike Kowalski (drums), Daryl Dragon (keyboards) and hired a large horn section. Much of the Uk tour was filmed (on and off stage). These Palladium shows were also recorded by EMI for possible release, but legal wrangles prevented their use. (NB The Dec 8th Astoria shows were also recorded and edited together became the 1970 Live In London album.)

chrisb 1st Feb 2019		One hour fly on the wall documentary of the Beach Boys 1968 European Tour has appeared on YouTube yesterday (link here) Includes some onstage and backstage footage of this gig, as well as in Scotland from the UK leg of the tour. Also includes footage from Germany and Paris (although no French dates on the tour). Edit: Sorry- its now Unavailable (later on 1st Feb)



chrisb 8th Jan 2019		In an interview played recently on BBC Radio 4, following his death, recording engineer Geoff Emerick said that the sound of this Beach Boys show that he recorded was terrible as the Beach Boys drummer was too loud. So he recorded the band again at their Finsbury Park Astoria show and put the drummer behind a glass screen and got a perfect recording.
