Live Music
Notes From McCabes website: John Stewart was a singer/songwriter who spent a lifetime writing and recording songs that chronicle the unique people and culture that is America. Known for his contributions to the American folk music movement of the 1960s while a member of the Kingston Trio from 1961 to 1967, he had a #1 hit with “Daydream Believer” as recorded by The Monkees and Anne Murray. He had top forty hits in the 70s and 80s with “Gold”, “Midnight Wind”, “Lost Her in the Sun”, and “Runaway Train”, and has written songs for Rosanne Cash, Joan Baez, Nancy Griffith, Albert Lee, and many others. He just had a way to express himself in three verses and a chorus. After John passed in 2008, his band of 25 years regroups every year to celebrate his vast catalogue of music. Come join Chuck McDermott, Dennis Kenmore, John Hoke, Bob Hawkins, Dave Crossland, and Dave Batti as they not only play songs from John’s extensive repertoire but also some of their own Johnny Stew influenced originals.
