Bobby Byrd gets mentioned in the RW review so he probably replaced one of the originally scheduled acts (Brighter Shade of Darkness ?)

Jazzie Quick 7th Dec 2022		I was a 16 year old trumpet player on those shows with Bobby Byrd, part of The James Brown Revue... Timmy Thomas was not on that show, replaced by Edwin Starr. I remember rehearsing with Edwin Starr in the basement of the Apollo Theatre and Bobby Byrd showing up la bout 25 minutes later, upset that we were rehearsing with Edwin Starr. Well, to make a long story short or a short story even shorter, Byrd agreed to "loan" his band to Edwin for terms that were never discussed. Byrd reminded us(his band) not to do anything extra to make Edwin sound good. He told us to "Play the parts straight' James Brown also made an appearance during one of Bobby Byrd's Shows, running from December 6th to December 12th..On another note, the band would hang out with the other artists after we gained their respect. They did not talk to us before our first performance but after hearing our show, everyone wanted to shake our hands and hang out..Regarding "The Miracles" William "Billy" Griffin had recently replaced Smokey Robinson and their big hit then was "Do It Baby"...Smokey Robinson was backstage at times during those performances. That's how I will always remember that part of my life at 16 years old, taking correspondence classes as a junior in high school, touring in 1972/73 with "The Bobby Byrd Show and Review" Derrick Jordan aka "Jazzie Quick" of Jordan/Wall Productions on the anniversary of our show that day????
